My Trip To India - Goa Part 2

18:00:00

So after a fantastic few days in New Delhi Sara and I took a flight an Air Asia flight to Goa for our dear friends Mumtaz and Altaf's wedding. Goa is within the coastal region known as the Konkan in western India. It is bounded by Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its western coast.

Once we arrived at Goa International Airport we took a taxi. The journey to our hotel was a 45/60 minutes drive.

We stayed at Dona Sylvia Beach Resort as where the majority of the guest were staying for the wedding, which was 2 minutes from Cavelossim beach. We took advantage of that and had lunch on the beach every day and for evening drinks. The owner and staff were so lovely, helpful and kind.

This was my 2nd India wedding and the ceremony was over 3 days with 4 different ceremonies. The first ceremony was the Pithi ceremony, the bride and groom are made to sit on a low stool, while the women in their friends and family apply Pithi, a paste of sandalwood, rose water, herbs, and a few drops of perfume. The Nikkah happened on the 2nd day, which is the actual wedding ceremony and was my favourite day. A couple hours after the Nikkah ceremony we had a rain dance for 2 hours. It felt and look like we were in a Bollywood movie it was some much fun.

The third part of the wedding was on the evening of the actual wedding, which full of fantastic dance performances and we got to learn some traditional dance moves. On the 3 night, we had an evening reception with speaks and more dance performances for friends and family.

I have to say this was the best wedding I have been (except for mine of course). But it was amazing few days and it was great to enjoy it with old and new friends.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this post and let me know if any of you are from or have been to India?
